Aeolta’s AeroCube® is designed to exploit a currently unharnessed phenomenon; the natural acceleration of wind over a pitched roof.

Somewhat like the upper part of an airplane wing, pitched roofs create a longer path for wind to cross compared to the free air flow. The longer distance to cover causes the air to increase in speed.

Aeolta® has performed extensive studies to analyse and measure this effect and has designed the AeroCube® to fit tightly on the point where the wind reaches its highest acceleration; the roof’s ridge.

Successfully exploiting this phenomenon in an economically viable manner is one of the key principles Aeolta® technology is based on. It is the key to producing wind energy in built-up environments. Rather than seeking faster winds at higher altitudes (using towers) Aeolta's AeroCube® technology captures the wind in a smart and discrete way.

Depending on the actual geometry of each individual house, acceleration levels of up to 1.6 times the free wind speed have been measured in our tests.
